A
little about me and what makes me tick
I have
been working within
the fashion industry for over 20 years as an international professional
hair and make-up artist, working alongside top designers, models
and celebrities worldwide. My approach is both
intuitive and imaginative, by utilising my comprehensive knowledge
to help create images from the sublime to the surreal.
After years of experience working at the highest
level in a privileged industry, I remain passionate about what
I do. Traveling around the globe and being part of a team as an
artist, a mediator, a diplomat and meeting extraordinary people
whilst keeping my humour, was all part of the job. Traveling by
helicopter, private jet, on the QE2 or a jeep. . . working in jungles,
swamps, glaciers, desserts, on safari, in rain forests and even
underwater. From Borneo to the back streets of Sheffield, working
in minus 10 degrees with wind and rain, to a baking 40 degree heat
is also part of the job! Working on location can be great fun,
hard work and not glamorous at all, but the bonus for me, i was
seeing the sunrise and the sunset in probably the most beautiful
parts of the world.
I
have lived and worked in Australia, America, Germany, Italy and
France - the beauty of the business is that you could work in any
major city in the world. I now live in Brighton and have never
been happier . . .
I have cut back on long overseas assignments,
and this allows me to balance working in the UK advertising world,
where I create a virtual dream to sell, and working privately with
brides and real people making their dreams a reality! Both are
hugely rewarding in their own way, and this has allowed me to have
a more fulfilling and balanced life.
I have an inquiring mind and I research
extensively. Teaching has now become a part of my
life, and every time I share my knowledge it is a great feeling.
. . I cannot count the times clients say 'That is so simple and
effective, why doesn't anybody teach this kind of thing?
I
also find time to write a regular
beauty page for Absolute Brighton Magazine with the latest makeup
trends, advice and easy to follow steps. As an independant,
I tell it from the point of view of what is best for you. . .no
hype. . . no axes to grind . . . no commissions to earn.
I also publish my monthly beauty tips on
my blog brightonbeauty.blogspot.com in
my own unique style! Don't
even mention the two Facebook groups Vintage Lingerie or Brighton
Beauty!
Anyone who
knows me also knows I have a passion for collecting vintage and
eclectic fashion too. Over the years I have amassed a huge collection
of 1930s and 1940s silk vintage bridal trousseau which can
be viewed by appointment only in my Regency Boudoir. Other Vintage
Boudoir items and accessories which can be viewed at www.pixxi.com.
with
loads of georgous things for all girls.
As
you can see. . . it is an interesting mix. . .
